Gnosticism - An Introduction
page 3
Modern Gnosticism
is practiced either through independent research and contemplation or
through traditional services, which are quite similar to a Catholic Mass.
Traditional services include the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, but
also include unorthodox services such as the "Feast of the Holy Mary
Magdalene" and various healing services. Gnostic practices place
emphasis on individual "gnosis" rather than on faith or on rules
to live by. With English translations of most of the The
Nag Hammadi Library only becoming available in the last decade, not
too many people have become familiar with their contents. But as more
people are questioning traditional dogmas, Gnostic congregations continue
to grow.
